The group was first formed at the end of 2012, after an appeal in the diary from the Community Council.  Alfred Stewart Properties, the then owners were disposing of some of their land holdings, with plans to sell the woodlands on the open market.  However, in an act of philanthropy they first offered the woodlands to the community before placing them on the market.

During 2013, the volunteers that came together after the appeal worked with both Alfred Stewart Properties and the Community Council, under the guidance of Colin McPhail, in order to secure public ownership of the woodlands, and their long term use for the Dalgety Bay Community.  After ironing out all the legalities involved and lots of hard work behind the scenes, as of Christmas 2013 the woodlands were formally secured into public ownership.

Our attractive logo was designed by Morven Fyfe who, as a Primary 5 pupil at Donibristle Primary School, won the competition to come up with a suitable concise and colourful image that would reflect our organisation and its objectives.
